I use Jasc PSP 9 but you can do these tutorials in any version.

THE TUTORIAL

1.  Open a new transparent image 1000 x 624

2.  Form  a gradient (Radial 45/5/invert)

2.  Flood fill your image

3.  Adjust - Blur - Gausian 30 - effects 

4.  Effects - Simple - Blintz

5.  Effects - Simple - Diamonds

6.  Layer - Duplicate

7.  Effects - Flaming Pear - Flexify 2

8.  Add a drop shadow of choosing (0,0,80,40) (optional)

9.  With the freehand selection tool, draw around the opening of the ball

10.  Layers - New Raster Layer

11.  Fill the selection with the gradient

12.  Adjust - Blur - Gausian Blur 30

13.  Edit- Copy, Edit - Paste the Mist

14.  Adjust - Sharpness - Sharpen x2

15.  Layer - Merge Down x2

16.  To the left of the circle with the selection tool on rectangle, draw a rectangle down the length of the image. (to your own choosing)

17.  Fill with the Gradient

18.  Adjust - Sharpness - Sharpen

19.  Effects - Edge Effects - Enhance

20.  Add a drop shadow of choosing

21.  Selections- Select None

22.  Effects Toadies - What Are You (default)

23.  Layer Duplicate

24.  Image - Mirror

25.  Layer - New Raster Layer

26.  Flood Fill White (#ffffff)

27.  New Mask Layer - Ratoncita 15

28.  Effects - Edge Effects - Enhance

29.  Layers - Merge Group

30.  Move this layer bneath the circle

31.  In your layers palette restore the gradient

32.  Layers - Merge All

33.  Add Borders

3px - white

3px - background color

34.  Edit Copy

35.  Selections - Select All

36.  Add Border 40px white

37.  Selections - Invert

38.  flood fill with the gradient

39.  Effects - Itallian Editors - Picture in a Picture

40.  Selections - Select None

41.  Edit- Copy, Edit Pate your tube/poser

42.  resize to your liking and add a drop shadow

43.  Adjust Sharpness - Sharpen x2

42.  Add Border 3px white

43.  Add your name or watermark or a saying

44.  Merge All

45.  Resize to your liking
